Last year, we published an article about some cheap & fun things to do around UCF. Since that article was so popular, the staff here at CVI thought it would be a good idea to write another article about some more fun things for students to do around UCF!
1) The Aloma Cinema Grill
A trip to the movies isn’t usually something you’d find on a list of “cheap” things to do. However, the Aloma Cinema Grill is the exception to this rule. If you get in before 6:00 PM, you can catch a showing for just $5! Even after the matinee is over, students can still get in for just $5.50!
However, be sure to eat before you get there—the food is kind of pricey for what you get.
2) The Geek Easy
The Geek Easy is a craft beer bar and venue that caters to geek culture. Often called “a sports bar for nerds (without the sports),” the Geek Easy is located in the back of A Comic Shop, right across the street from Full Sail University!
This bar hosts weekly karaoke, trivia night and live music events, so be sure to swing by and enjoy the atmosphere. Also, if you’re into comics, be sure to browse the store while you’re there for the latest issues!
3) Cloak & Blaster
Do you like tabletop games? Video games? How about craft beer? If you answered yes to any of the above, then the Cloak & Blaster is a pub you should visit. The pub, which is open every day of the week except Monday, serves up food, drinks and games to patrons.
You can choose to play Xbox One or WiiU games, or even borrow a tabletop game from the bar. Plus, if you join their mug club, you’ll get some extra membership benefits, such as extra ounces in your draft beers!
4) Wekiwa Springs State Park
If you’re willing to take a bit of a drive to the headwaters of the Wekiwa River, then Wekiwa Springs State Park is a great place to go enjoy nature. The park boasts 13 miles of trails for hiking, bicycling, canoeing/kayaking and many other activities. It’s about a 20-minute drive north from Orlando, right off of Exit 94 on I-4.
Admission to the park is just $6 per vehicle (limit of 8 people per vehicle), $4 for a single occupant vehicle and $2 if you’re on foot or a bicycle.
Rebounderz is an indoor trampoline arena that markets itself as an “extreme fun center” and certainly earns that title! Whether you just want to play sports on a massive trampoline, take an exercise class, hit the arcade or go crazy in the foam pit, Rebounderz in Apopka has something for everyone.
Jump time starts at $10 for 30 minutes and they do require you to wear special grip socks for your safety, which will cost you about $3 a pair.
6) Orlando Magic Games
Are you a big basketball fan? Then why not get yourself some tickets to watch the Orlando Magic play on Stubhub? You can save yourself a bit of cash on the price of a regular ticket and see some Magic on the court!
Hopefully, you’ll find an activity or new hangout on this list that you’ll absolutely love! If you have a favorite hangout near UCF that you like to go to that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, please share with us on Facebook or Twitter!
